| Roof Modules |
Webasto is working hard on technologies of the future. To enable us to accurately assess future potential and customer requirements, our engineers have been working for many years on the development of roof modules – and are instrumental in the ongoing modularisation. |

Many advantages speak in their favour. Most important, the roof modules will enable car manufacturers to significantly reduce their logistics expenditure in future. Instead of installing a multitude of single parts in vehicles on the production line, the roof modules delivered in the desired time and sequence will only need to be integrated into the standardised vehicle shells. This permits a reduction in the necessary body versions and ensures increased flexibility, for example in reacting to customer requests. New features, e.g. light, aerial or head airbag, can be integrated with greater speed into a vehicle, because no changes are required either in the production sequence or in the vehicle interfaces.

In addition, the assembly of the interior is greatly simplified, because the roof modules are fitted to the vehicle in the final production step – for this purpose Webasto has a number of different module concepts such as top load and body modules. Steel, sheet metal, aluminium and highgrade plastic are possible materials for the roof panel. Due to its flexibility, the lastmentioned is particularly suitable for optimum design integration into the vehicle. Moreover, a honeycomb composite material results in a substantial weight reduction.
